Closing Day Banquet

From: Tracie Lyons (League President)

Well, the regular season is behind us and the league is now into post season play.  Two teams, the Tigers (minor division) and the Angels (softball division) are continuing their quest to become District 25 Tournament of Champion winners.  They both play semi-final games on Wednesday evening and everyone should come out to support their efforts and show their support for the league.  See this link game times and locations.

http://www.cadistrict25.org/TOC/tocmenu2009.htm

Speaking of support for the league, the league has been busy working on the Closing Banquet.  A few managers have asked if they can have there teams skip the banquet in support of small gathering planned for their teams. While we absolutely support the team building that every manager has done this year, we need the managers to not only support their teams and players but also support the league.  This banquet, for which the league has incurred great expense and is not charging any profit on ticket prices, is designed to build a community and recognize teams and individual accomplishments in a fun setting.  It will only be a success if the managers show commitment and help sell the idea to the league families.

While we understand that these are tough economic times, we are charging no fee for the players to attend the banquet.  They are able to attend at absolutely no costs to their families..  In addition, family members and other guest can enjoy the fun and festivities at a relatively modest price at a one of the city's larger hotels on a Saturday night.  To encourage family participation and further reduce the cost, the league is offering a free sibling ticket (child's ticket) for the first 50 adult tickets  purchased this Saturday afternoon between 10-12pm at the field (one free sibling ticket per family). Please let you parents know that ticket will be available for purchase at the time.

In addition, we are holding a brief coaches meeting this Saturday at 10 am at the field. At that time, we will be talking about the Allstar tournments and other post season playing opportunity for kids interested in playing competitively during the summer. We will also discuss the fall program and deal with any wrap up issues you may have.

Ladera Little League is has the potential to be a great youth sport organization and much more.  We, a predominately African American league, are uniquely positioned to do some great things in our community.  Let's work together to make it happen.

Thanks for all that you have done and will continue to do.

Hello Team Moms!  The regular season is over for most of us, but there is still plenty of post season play which means....MORE SNACK BAR HOURS!  YEAH!  LOL!

Please forward the following info to your parents. You can just copy and paste if you like.

HAVE YOU COMPLETED YOUR SNACK BAR HOURS? If not, please contact Cherie Robinson  a.s.a.p. to schedule a time to work.  There are available hours this week Tuesday June 2nd - Friday June 5th for the Minor and Major Division Playoffs. Time slots will be 5:30pm-7:30pm and 6:30pm-8:30pm each night.  Additionally, we will need coverage for the following time slots on Saturday June 6th from 12:30pm - 2:30pm, 2:00pm - 4:00pm, 3:30pm - 5:30pm. If this week doesn't work for you...no problem. Ladera is hosting the 10 and 11 y/o All-Star Tournament for District 25 running June 25 - July 20. There will be more opportunities to volunteer during that time. We will need snack bar coverage, scorekeepers, field maintenance, pitch counters, etc.  This would be a great opportunity to come help the park SHINE!

Remember, you are responsible for working 4 hours per player enrolled in the league. We want you to work, we dont want to cash your check.  However, if you just want us to cash your check, please contact Cherie Robinson.
